Why I work at RMYC

Hi everyone -

I am very fortunate to have the job I have at Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, especially now when so many millions of people are finding themselves unemployed. I get to work from home and get a paycheck every who weeks to pay my bills and save a little for me and Hawk to take a vacation from time to time and eat quality food. And because of the stability of RMYC I will be able to keep my job for the foreseeable future as the world endures the pandemic.
My job is challenging and rewarding. The best reward is getting to know some of the Corpsmembers. RMYC helps youth and young adults get life skills training and workforce training so they can get a job and hopefully feel inspired toward a career. They work on all kinds of environmental projects that benefit me personally and the entire community. They protect the forest from fire by removing overgrown wood fuels and they build trials in the forest so I can ride my mountain bike. They do many, many more things that improve my quality of life and the lives on all New Mexicans.

I am telling you this because I want you to know how much I value my job and what it means to me and Hawk. And here is the other reason. I am helping RMYC with a fundraiser to help us get over the financial impacts of the pandemic. We had to postpone several projects that forced us to not hire about 100 youth to participate in our programs this summer. I am asking everyone to donate $5 or $10 to RMYC. This small donation will add to the donations of 27 other people who have already donated.

So, if you are like me and are grateful to have an income these days and enjoy the outdoors during this awful moment in history, please take a few minutes to go to the RMYC website and make a donation of $5 or $10 (hit the Donate button at the top of the website). And if you are truly inspired by what RMYC has done over the last 25 years, please start your own fundraiser through the VERY EASY process on the website (hit the Start Fundraising button also at the top). It takes only a few minutes. All you need to do is set up our account and email your friends, family, co-workers, and colleagues who might be in a position to share.
