There are many reasons why people are scared to ride a bike on the roads in Taos - the lack of bike lanes, too much traffic, traffic is too fast, potholes everywhere, and the fear of injury or even death. Another reason is because of bike security. Where can you put your bike and feel confident that it will be there when you get back?

Most of us want to ride a bike for fun, get to work, exercise or run errands, but there are too many obstacles. Let's focus on solutions.

How nice would it be to ride your bike to downtown Taos on a comfortable and safe bike lane, park your bike on the plaza, take a walk in Kit Carson Park, get lunch, buy a birthday card for your best friend, and return to the plaza to find your bike safe and sound?

If you share this vision, please consider making a donation to get bike racks in Taos. We will hire a small crew of Taos youth. They will get life skills training and workforce credentials while we put them to work to repair existing racks and install several new racks at key locations in and around downtown Taos.

We have raised over $2,000 from the community already. Your donation will match a grant we submitted to People for Bikes. Thank you Taos Rotary Club or your generous donation! Other local foundations are very interested in donations, and your donation will make a difference.

We are committed to this project regardless of any grant applications, but we will need your support. Any amount helps so join us in the solution.
